School Risk Assessment Message
Mon 04 Jan 2021Dear All
As you are all aware, we expect to be open to all pupils tomorrow, Tuesday 5th January 2021.
As part of our whole-school risk assessment which we have further reviewed very carefully over the last few days, ventilation (i.e. open windows) at school will be increased to help reduce the risk of virus transmission. With this in mind, during these very cold winter months, it would be helpful to send your child(ren) into school with additional layers such as an additional cardigan or jumper or sweatshirt (as well as a warm coat as normally required). School colours are preferable e.g. burgundy/red, blue, yellow or white but plain black/grey would also be fine. Let school office know if you are struggling to provide an appropriate additional jumper, sweatshirt or cardigan as we have some spare uniform that we are happy to provide.
Many thanks
Mrs Dhugga, Head of School

DfE UPDATES 27/04/20
Mon 27 Apr 2020IMPORTANT DfE UPDATES APRIL 2020
New Guidance to Keep Children Safe Online During Lockdown
The government has today published new advice to help people, particularly children, stay safe online during the coronavirus outbreak. With more people than ever working from home and many children using the internet for education and entertainment, there are increased risks of exposure to online harms such as cyberbullying and disinformation. To combat this, today’s government guidance sets out a four-point plan and recommends reviewing security and safety settings, checking facts and guarding against disinformation, being vigilant against fraud and scams, and managing the amount of time spent online. The guidance follows work between the government and child safety organisations to assess the impact of coronavirus on child online safety and bolster ways of working together to protect children online.
Digital minister urges parents to follow new guidance to keep children safe online during lockdown
The guidance can be found at: www.gov.uk/guidance/covid-19-staying-safe-online
Access to Parks and Public Spaces – please supervise your child(ren) during their once daily exercise outside, especially in parks and open spaces
This new information focuses on the importance of public parks and open spaces and the ability to go outside, take exercise and enjoy fresh air at this difficult time. For many people, especially families with children and those who live in homes without a garden, access to public parks is a lifeline. Whilst the messages around staying at home and staying safe remain priorities, schools can assist in communicating to parents/carers the need for their children and young people to use parks and public spaces in a responsible way and at all times observing the advice and guidance around social distancing. This item includes a letter to local authorities regarding continued access to parks and public spaces including gardens of remembrance and cemeteries.

Mental Health resources
Tue 21 Apr 2020DfE: What support is available for children with mental health issues?
All NHS mental health trusts are setting up 24/7 helplines, and seeking to use digital and virtual channels, to continue delivering support during the pandemic.
Social connections, alongside exercise, sleep, diet and routine, are important protective factors for mental health. Resources to promote and support mental wellbeing are included in the list of online resources we have published to help children to learn at home. Public Health England has also published guidance on supporting children and young people’s mental health. The Department of Health and Social Care is providing £5m of additional funding for mental health charities to support adults and children.
Digital support includes:
- Minded educational resources for adults about children and young people’s mental health, which is relevant for teachers, other professionals working with children, volunteers, parents and carers
- the Every Mind Matters platform, from Public Health England, about looking after your mental health
- Rise Above, targeted at young people, which also has schools-facing lesson plans
