Remote Learning Plan (emergencies and significant illness)
Remote Education
In line with guidance from the Department for Education, we will always seek to keep our school open so that every child can continue to learn, grow, and flourish within our faith community. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when it is not possible to open the school safely, or when doing so would go against guidance from local or central government.
If restricting attendance becomes the only option, we will put in place remote education so that children can continue their learning journey, stay connected to their teachers and classmates, and remain rooted in the values of faith, hope, and love that guide all we do.
Remote Education Plan
In the event that pupils are unable to attend school, the school will implement a structured remote education programme in accordance with Department for Education expectations. This provision will be informed by the school’s values—rooted in love and faith, growing in hope and courage, and thriving in light and harmony—ensuring that pupils continue to make progress within a framework that promotes both academic development and personal wellbeing.
A timetable of learning will be issued as soon as reasonably practicable. The content of this timetable will reflect the length of absence and the anticipated level of disruption to education. It will draw upon high-quality resources, including Oak National Academy, identified by the Department for Education as good practice, and will be supplemented with teacher-selected materials to ensure curriculum continuity.
The programme will include recorded lessons, independent tasks, and practice activities designed to secure progression in core and wider curriculum areas. Consideration will be given to pupils’ age, stage of development, special educational needs, screen time, and family circumstances, in order to provide an appropriate and proportionate offer.
The timetable will seek to deliver learning equivalent in length to the teaching time pupils would ordinarily receive in school. It will incorporate opportunities for essential skill practice in reading, spelling, handwriting, grammar, punctuation, and number fluency, supported by familiar online platforms such as Times Table Rockstars. These elements will complement, rather than replicate, recorded teaching.
Arrangements will be made, where appropriate, to facilitate interaction and feedback through Google Classroom. This will enable pupils to remain engaged with their learning, receive timely guidance from teachers, and sustain connections with peers during any period of remote education.
Provision for Pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan
The Special Education Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) will work in collaboration with the class teacher to design a personalised programme of learning that addresses the specific outcomes outlined in each pupil’s plan, ensuring continuity of provision wherever possible. This may include virtual meetings with the class teacher, support staff, and relevant external professionals. Supplementary learning materials and resources will also be provided directly to the pupil’s home to support their ongoing progress.
