Vision and Theological Roots
Our Purpose
As a Church of England Academy, we seek to inspire and empower every child and adult to grow academically, socially, morally and spiritually. We do this in the knowledge that each person is loved by God, safe, and valued within our school community.
Christian values are not simply taught; they are woven into the fabric of our curriculum, our relationships, and our wider ethos - preparing every pupil to become the very best they can be.
Our Christian Vision
Our vision is rooted in St. Paul's teaching in Ephesians 3:16 - 18, which speaks of grasping the breadth, depth, length and height of Christ's love, and of being rooted and grounded in love.
"Be rooted in Christ" - Ephesians 3:17
Love is the foundation of a Christian life. The presence of Christ in our hearts transforms how we think, act, and grow. We believe this deep, personal relationship with Christ is essential for lasting maturity, resilience, and joy.
Our theologically rooted vision drives everything we do, enabling us to live out our identity as a Church school.
School Vision
Rooted, Growing, Thriving
- Rooted in love and faith
- Growing in hope and courage
- Thriving in light and harmony
This vision expresses our commitment that everyone is valued, equipped, and inspired to flourish — embracing both success and challenge — and living “life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).
It aligns with the Church of England’s Vision for Education: Deeply Christian, serving the common good.
How We Live This Out
We will:
- Nurture well-being so every member of our community has a deep sense of self-worth and respect for others.
- Lay strong foundations for every child’s future, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Deliver an enriched curriculum that inspires, challenges, and shapes children into compassionate, responsible global citizens.
- Provide a safe and inclusive environment where all can reflect, grow, and make wise choices.
- Promote Christian faith and values so that pupils and staff alike understand their meaning and significance in daily life
Our Christian Values
Our vision comes alive through six core Christian values:
- Love – showing God’s unconditional love in all we do (John 13:34).
- Forgiveness – offering fresh starts and grace (Matthew 6:14).
- Courage – facing challenges with strength and faith (Joshua 1:9).
- Peace – building harmony within ourselves and our community (John 14:27).
- Hope – trusting God’s good plans for the future (Jeremiah 29:11).
- Faith – believing and trusting in God, even when unseen (2 Corinthians 5:7).
These values are not abstract ideas; they are lived and modelled daily in Collective Worship, Religious Education, and across school life. They empower pupils to flourish as effective learners and valuable global citizens.
Alongside these, we explore all 12 values of the Roots and Fruits programme — Generosity, Compassion, Courage, Forgiveness, Friendship, Respect, Thankfulness, Trust, Perseverance, Justice, Service, and Truthfulness.
Underpinning Principles
At the heart of everything we do are the four key aims of the Church of England’s Vision for Education:
- Wisdom
- Hope
- Community
- Dignity
Together, these guide us as we nurture a school where children are not only educated but deeply loved, purposefully guided, and joyfully inspired.
