Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Learning in the Reception Class (EYFS)
Our Reception Class provides a happy, secure and stimulating environment in which our pupils continue the learning initiated at home and their pre-school setting. They develop further as individuals and learn to be part of a bigger social group. Through a carefully structured play based curriculum, we aim to promote all aspects of development: social, emotional, creative, physical and intellectual.
The EYFS outdoor area is used for a variety of teaching and learning experiences including drawing, writing and mathematics based play. Children's experiences are also enhanced by the educational visits, that take place throughout the year, and participation in Forest School.
In 2024-25, we will blend our time with KS1 to ensure opportunities for social development with a wider group of children. Continuous provision is available in both classes, which supports not only our Reception children but also some of our younger Year 1 children who benefit from access to this approach. We have developed our approaches with the advice of an excellent EYFS advisor. If you have any questions about our provision, please speak to our Early Years Leader, Mrs Kavanagh.
